On the afternoon of April 15, 2026, Bishop Olivier presided over a water-pouring ceremony, joined by Venerable Nget Chamroeun, the Abbot of Ang Montrei Pagoda, for 100 elders residing around St. Mary of the Smile Church in Chamkar Tieng, Tram Kak district, Takeo Province. This event was organized to express gratitude and love toward the elders in celebration of the Khmer New Year. During the ceremony, the Bishop remarked that even though the Catholic community is of a different faith, he deeply respects and values this noble tradition. He also called upon the elders to help educate and remind the younger generation to continue fostering the nation’s rich culture and traditions. He emphasized the importance of living together in harmony—a state originating in the heart and mutual understanding—to build a beautiful society. The ceremony was conducted with great joy and solemnity, featuring prayer sessions, chanted blessings, ritual sprinklings, and the distribution of offerings to all 100 elders.
