On August 22, 2025, the apostolic nuncio to Cambodia, Peter Bryan Wells and Msgr. Enrique Figaredo, the apostolic prefect of Battambang and Chairman of Caritas Cambodia joined a delegation of 60 heads and representatives from various diplomatic missions, UN agencies, and international NGOs led by Deputy Prime Minister PRAK Sokhonn, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia. The group visited the Banteay Meanchey and Oddar Meanchey provinces to observe the areas affected by the recent armed clashes between Cambodia and Thailand. The purpose was to provide the delegation with a first-hand look at the situation along the Cambodian-Thai border. Battambang Prefecture has cover 9 provinces: Battambang, Pursat, Siem Preap, Pailin, Kampong Thom, Kampong Chhnang, Phrah Vihear, Odor Meanchey, Banteay Meanchey where the armed clashes areas. photo by Sovanara khem
