Mgr. Antonysamy Susairaj, Bishop of the Apostolic Prefecture of Kampong Cham said the respecting the religion rights and the beliefs of the human is the highest priority stance that Catholic Church in Cambodia is adhering.
“The main stance of our Catholic church always respect is not critique and violate the other rights. We always respect and highly give value to the other religion group, therefore all of our evangelization is only focusing on love to the other only”, said he.
The Catholic Church’s goal and the way that we present to the others is not by criticizing the other group. The ministry of Religion and Cults Affairs already aware and always recall us, especially in the interval religion meeting in order to make all us live together in peace and harmony, said he.
The main target of the Catholic Church in Cambodia is to present the love through the evangelization, but we never criticize the other. The method that Catholic Church has used to propagate the evangelization is by using personal life as the evidence and present good model to the other. If any bodies are interest to our activities, we can use voice as another way to make them known our Church, but we respect and give value of the other religion groups Msgr. Antonysamy said.
“ The Catholic Church in Cambodia always has good relationship with all the other religion groups, especially Buddhism”, said Msgr. Antonysamy.
Cambodia is the country where the constitution clearly states that Buddhism is the state’ religion, but fully respect and guarantee the religion freedom. There are more than 90% are Buddhism, the rest is Muslim, Christianity, and Animism.

webeditor
Dear Webeditor,
I am trying to get a copy of the Taize songbook, Taize Songs in Khmer, that I believe the Kompong Cham Catholic Church has published. Can you direct me to a source? I have a congregation in Fall River MA that includes both English- and Khmer-speaking parishioners, and we would like to sing some Taize songs together.
Thanks very much.
