Phnom Penh, October 29, 2009 (SIGNIS) – “I Need You” is a regular radio program of the Catholic Social Communications National office in Cambodia (SIGNIS-Cambodia) during which young people are able to call to discuss their problems with love and relationships.

“I Need You” is broadcasted twice a week, Monday and Tuesday from 10:00 am to 11:00am, on rent airtime from the protestant radio station in Phnom Penh since 2007.

CSC decided to create this program because there are many young people facing problems in their family or love relationships. They are lacking the moral education and psychological guidelines.

Assistant Secretary General of SIGNIS Ricardo Yáñez took the opportunity of a visit to Cambodia to meet (and film) the two presenters, Rin Bunrith and Yim Mary.

“We want to help youth who have problems and no one to help them. Our program counselor gives them new ideas,” said the 27 years-old Rin Bunrith.

According to Yim Mary, many callers are between 20 and 35 years-old. “We receive about 30 calls a day, and we can take only 6 or 7 callers fro discussion during the program. We sometimes receive calls from Buddhist monks who give their point of view in the program.”

Mr. Ly Sovanna, director of Catholic Social Communications (CSC) said this program helps young people to be aware of their potential: “I think this is a good way for many young people to prepare for adulthood, to be responsible in society.”
